Gabe Nagy joined the Department of Chemistry at Indiana University in 2012 to pursue a PhD in analytical chemistry where he studied under the mentorship of Professor Nicola L. B. Pohl. While at IU, he worked to develop mass spectrometry-based methods for improved monosaccharide identification as well as liquid chromatographic-based approaches for carbohydrate separations. Following his PhD, Gabe transitioned to working in Dr. Richard D. Smith’s lab at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher. At PNNL, his work involved the application of high-resolution ion mobility spectrometry in structures for lossless ion manipulations (SLIM) for the ultrafast separation of various biologically-relevant isomers. In July 2020, Gabe began his independent career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Utah. His current research involves the development of bioanalytical methods for the improved characterization of human milk oligosaccharides.
